Simple routines of successful people you should adopt

No matter how much chaos happens once you open your eyes, the right rituals can set the tone for the entire day. Even something as simple as mapping out the sequence of your upcoming plans or doing a few stretches can make all the difference. As the famous saying goes, “Beginning of a great day begins the night before”.

But don’t just take our word for it! Science and sociology backs it up too. After surveying 233 wealthy individuals, financial planner Tom Corley found out they all have something in common – daily habits. The beginning of 2023 is the perfect time to assess your existing morning and evening routine and add new healthy practices.

Better productivity is a learnable science. Here’s a look at habits that should be a part of your day in the new year.

Make time for focused thinking

When there’s a ton of going around, finding a moment to sit back and take a moment to process everything that’s happening can seem challenging, but it’s crucial for your well-being. According to Corley, successful people set aside at least 15 minutes every day to self-reflect.

Moreover, having quiet time is scientifically proven to be associated with stress reduction, so try to include some alone time in your busy schedule. Use it to think about your career, health, and relationships. You’ll feel less stressed instantly!

Meditate

Tony Robbins has made a fortune teaching others about self-power. So what’s his secret to success? Meditation. The self-help guru spends at least 10 minutes a day meditating, which gives him energy and more positivity. Jeff Weiner, the CEO of LinkedIn,  also believes in morning meditations. If they do it, you can certainly, too!

Sweat

Another habit successful people share? Working out! Numerous studies have shown that daily exercisers are likelier to have more energy. They’re more positive too!

Exercising in the morning is a great way to start the day. Even after a little workout, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment, which certainly doesn’t hurt. That doesn’t mean you have to spend a torturous hour doing exercises you despise.

As long as you are breaking a sweat, anything works. It can be as simple as taking a walk around the block, wrestling with your kids, or dancing your heart away to your favorite tunes.

Read a book

The happiest people in the world don’t just have healthy morning habits. They also know the right way to finish off their day. One activity almost all successful folks share – they read. A lot. The iconic self-made billionaire Warren Buffet has said that reading has been the most important habit he’s developed.

Even if you read one page a day, it will help you reduce stress and slowly calm down before night while educating yourself at the same time.

If you hate reading, start small. Find a blog you enjoy, or check out a printed magazine. As long as you’re reading, you’re good.

Can’t fit all of these habits into your schedule?

In an ideal world, we’d all follow the 20/20/20 rule of productive mornings and would be able to keep up with all of our habits. But when life happens, that can’t always be possible. Even Michelle Obama and Beyonce have their bad days, so don’t feel guilty or disappointed. It’s perfectly fine. We’re all humans – after all.

Even if you manage to do one thing on this list, that’s good enough. You’re one step closer to living a happier and more fulfilled life.
